I hear my mother tell stories today of my childhood that I recall but my memories of them are different. I remember shopping at the same stores as my friends but, what do you mean we shopped on the clearance section?! I didn’t know there was a difference! She had a way of taking what we had and making it stretch, pivoting and continuing with the flow. I have tried to do the same but complete melt downs soon follow because I struggle when pieces are missing.
What I’m starting to learn is getting creative with what I have can make the most impactful moments. I now find myself trying a new recipe and not having all the ingredients and just giving the dish a new name. We now find ourselves keeping the new collection of amazon boxes cause Asher loves to build forts and robots out of them. I’m learning that a pivot, can be the difference between a memory being thrown away or an experience filled with joy.
