“The trial period has come to an end. We have officially started homeschooling this month. Finding the right curriculum has been more challenging than I expected. Although I am firm in my decision to homeschool, many new factors remain. We are still in the trial phase, and I don’t know when we will be out of it.
We tried out a curriculum that I had heard a lot about, and it did help me identify some helpful teaching methods. I wanted to introduce computer-based learning where my child follows someone else’s instructions. However, there were aspects of the curriculum that I didn’t like. I became worried about what we would do if I ended the subscription. Then, I reminded myself why I chose to homeschool and paused the subscription instead of canceling it entirely. I want to explore other curriculum options that align better with our style. I may even use it for a specific subject later on. I realized I shouldn’t keep something I couldn’t use just because I feared not having the “perfect” curriculum.

Researching how others approach homeschooling has been helpful, as I’ve discovered new resources and ideas. However, I always remember my reasons for homeschooling. Without the help of online school, we still have plenty of other activities to do. I want to remind you it’s okay to pause; remember that daily life is a skill, and you will find your rhythm. Take it one step at a time.
